It may have taken me a year, but I finally made it down to South Jersey to try out Myung Ga Korean Restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ. Last January a fellow named Uncle Sam left me a note on my recommendations page to come down and try out the restaurant, and it has been on my to-do list since then.
I was honestly quite surprised to see that the restaurant was over half full when we arrived during a mid-afternoon Saturday. Anyway, there were five of us, and we ended up ordering a lot of different items off of the menu (unfortunately we didn’t take pictures of everything that was ordered at the table). Pictured below you’ll see banchan, jap chae, haemul soon dubu, dolsot bibimbap, and kalbi dolsot.
Well, the good news is that the food ain’t half bad. Not as good as you might find in Pal Park or Fort Lee, but pretty darn good for South Jersey. The only real competition Myung Ga has in Cherry Hill is Beawon (near D&Q), and I’d have to say that the food at Myung Ga has the slight edge. One negative about the food though – the haemul soon dubu didn’t come out as hot as it should have so the egg did not cook well when it was dropped in the pot.
The bad news is that the service at Myung Ga was fairly poor. Someone at our table had to literally get up and grab someone on three separate occasions because we were being ignored after the food was initially served. Also, they weren’t really good at refilling the banchan, as in they never did, even as it disappeared from our table quite quickly.
If you are in South Jersey and are craving Korean food, my recommendation is for you to go to Beawon located at 1720 Marlton Pike East in Cherry Hill, NJ. The food here at Myung Ga isn’t quite good enough to override the disappointing service. At least at Beawon I know that I won’t be stuck at my table with my mouth half on fire and no water. Beawon also gets a few extra points for having an H-Mart right behind it.

Food looks good. And now I’m going to have to have some Korean for lunch tomorrow.
And your score makes me cry. I lost my bowling ability.
Of these dishes, I recognize three. I guess I need to work on my Korean food knowledge.
Eric’s comments are so SEO’d. But I have to agree with him. Clearly, Korean food makes you better at bowling.
