Hello. As Eric has already mentioned, I am alive here in Korea. I’m actually having a hard time finding time to jump on the Internet and post updates, so at least for today I’m going to post up all the pictures at once.
I think I’m going to have to post up a little backstory for this week’s posts to make sense. I’m going to super condense it though because everyone is waiting for me for dinner. If you have any questions or want to talk more about it, please just leave a comment or e-mail me at matt@iblogwhatieat.com
The Past - If you couldn’t tell by my last name and my Korean face, I am adopted. Last year I went to Korea. I got an e-mail from the adoption agency when I was in Korea that they located my birth family. I met my mother and 5 siblings. I only got to spend about 2-3 days with them. Here is the article I wrote for the local newspaper last year if you need to know more.
The Present - I came to Korea this time to meet my birth father. It’s actually been quite an awkward experience because of the language barrier, but we’re slowly making things work. I slept at their house last night. I’m meeting my grandmother right now.
Okay, picture time real fast. I have a lot more that I’ll try to post later.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I read the article you wrote and it was really touching. I cannot imagine all the emotions running through your head at that time. Glad that you visiting Korea again and getting to know your family more.

Great post, Matt… glad to see you’re enjoying your time in Korea.
Your little kids are adorable! When Simande hits it big, you’re going to have to fly your Korean family here to visit.
[...] Everyone is asleep now, so I’ll try to use this quiet time to write a little better post than last time. [...]
Wow, that’s a cool story and amazing that you are meeting so many new people right now. I read bits of that news article and it gave me chills!
Your niece and nephew are too cute for words. Love the peace sign. K, off to catch up on newer posts.
