For lunch, Paul wanted either Rasoi (Indian Retaurant) or a thick cut BLT from Beechwood Cafe, but I had a craving for a Cuban sandwich. Since Rasoi is already on this site and I thought a Cubano would be more interesting than a BLT, we decided to go to this Cuban deli/butcher/bodega in downtown Jersey City. Unfortunately, they ran out of the ingredients for a Cuban sandwich, which include:
- Ham
- Roasted Pork
- Swiss Cheese
- Pickles
- Mustard
- Cuban bread toasted flat on a sandwich press
Luckily there’s a Cuban restaurant a few blocks down so we decided to get a little fancy and have a nice sit down lunch together where we discussed Scrubs and the proper amount to pay someone for “pain and suffering” during a malpractice lawsuit. Awwwwww.

The entire place is decorated with interesting artwork

Exactly one Cubano and exactly 32 Plantain Chips

The tables are all hand painted pieces of art with a coat of varnish

The original place we tried to go, but they ran out of Cuban sandwich ingredients. I like the picture though.

wow i’ve never tried a cuban sandwich but they sound awesome. i love plantain chips though!!! you counted them?
The decor is quite intriguing.
You must have loved conversing with Paul so much that you started counting your plantain chips.
Another good looking sandwich. =)
im starting to think that paul is as much of a star of this blog as the food. both you and matt tend to talk about him an awful lot…
