Grand Palladium Jamaica Resorts & Spa (Montego Bay, Jamaica)

This may come as a surprise to some of you who know me (workaholic over here), but I actually went on vacation for an entire week.  I think this would qualify as my first real vacation… ever.  Don’t worry though, they had free wi-fi at the hotel so I manage to sneak in some work here and there.

Though we had planned to go on this vacation for a while, Margaret and I seriously procrastinated actually picking a destination.  We ended up getting lucky and booking tickets and a room at the all-inclusive Grand Palladium Jamaica Resorts & Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica a week before we intended to leave.

The initial arrival into the airport in Jamaica was a little awkward, once we got to the Grand Palladium and checked in, all was well during the rest of our time there.  Margaret and I actually planned to write a good review of this resort on Expedia’s website, but the web form on their site was way too long.  This blog post will hopefully suffice as a testament to its awesomeness.

I will now leave you with my review of this resort in checklist format.  I’m going to put more pictures on in a Facebook album, so if you want to see them you’re going to have to friend me on Facebook.  (while you’re there you should become a fan of Simande)

  • Staff – Very friendly and usually helpful.  Be prepared to do a lot of tipping while in Jamaica.  They take US money though, so it’s all good.
  • Rooms – The Junior Suites there were much nicer than I had expected.  TVs mounted on walls, fridge restocked daily, king sized bed, couch, and outside balcony with chairs.  The only thing that could use some improvement is the drain in the shower.
  • Beaches – They have three private beaches that are nice as hell.  Nice.  Margaritas on the beach.  Nice.
  • Pools – There are a lot of pools there.  Sadly, the main pool was closed while we were there for construction.  Since it was the off season, however, we had the other pools to ourselves which was nice.
  • Food – To be honest, I had lowered expectations for the food since it was an all-inclusive resort, but I’m glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.  The buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all fantastic.  The a la carte restaurants were very good as well (we didn’t get to try all 7).  I’m sorry there aren’t more pictures of food below.  I kept forgetting to bring my camera with me and the iPhone didn’t work out well when it was dark in the restaurant.  At least I got a good of the jerk chicken, right?

I know that I could go into more detail about the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resorts & Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica in this post, but it’s Friday night and I want to go out.  Just go to there and check it out yourself.  You won’t be disappointed.
